Miramonee (aka Monee, rhymes with Bonnie) always dreamed of living on Orcas Island. She grew up off the coast of Everett on a tiny island called Hat, and spent two weeks every summer be-bopping around with her family on their boat throughout the San Juans and Canada. Everyone got a chance to pick a favorite place to stop and help guide the trip, and Monee’s choice was always Orcas.
Monee received her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from UNLV, and while fairly obscure, has found it quite helpful in the world of Real Estate. “My degree taught me to be a researcher. I learned how to think critically, to find creative solutions, and to be mindful of cultural ideologies not only on a personal level, but how they may apply to business relationships.” Her degree, combined with previous years of experience working in insurance, service, and tech industries has lent itself well to the practice of real estate. The importance of timely response, attention to detail, and clarity in explanation are an asset when it comes to working with clients.
In addition to working as a Realtor, Monee is also a teacher at Salmonberry School and frequent fixture at the Orcas Center helping to wrangle children backstage for the Orcas Dance Collective. Teaching has become a source of joy in her life and she looks forward to seeing “her kids” all around the island, whether in the classroom, the dance hall, or the grocery store!
Outside of the office Monee enjoys spending time with her daughter Eleanor and their menagerie of pets, hiking around Cascade Lake with their dog, being a dance mom, and listening to records with the windows open.
